HistoricalPresident Ronald Reagan thought so much of the Rock River Valley, he had a picture of the spot where he had served as a lifeguard as a boy (Lowell Park - Dixon) hung in the Oval Office during his presidency (click on picture in Oval Office to see his view). When under pressure, he often would take a break to look at the picture of the river where he had served as a life guard and comment, "You see, that is where I used to be a life guard.
